Morrows: A Unique Jewelry Set Inspired by the Vertebral System

Connecting Pearls in a New and Powerful Way

Morrows explores all kinds of connections, through feeling and touching, and introduces a new way to connect pearls inspired by our vertebral system.

Morrows, designed by Ting G, is not your ordinary string of beads or pearls. It is a jewelry set that uses the same element to connect the entire piece, representing the vertebral construction and the meaning of connection. The design features repeating claws that create a unique and powerful aesthetic.

What sets Morrows apart is its versatility. It is a very easy-to-produce design that can be easily customized by changing the content, whether it be beads or pearls. Despite its simplicity, Morrows maintains a refined and elegant look, making it a perfect addition to any jewelry collection.

The realization of Morrows involves the use of silver, zircon, white crystal, and pearls. The crystal necklace boasts a crystal bead width of 14mm and a length of 24 inches. The pearl necklace, on the other hand, has a pearl width of 8mm and a length of 16 inches. The earrings feature crystal beads with widths of 14mm and 8mm, and a length of 58mm. The short pendant and long pendant both showcase crystal beads of varying widths and lengths, with options for necklace lengths of 16, 18, or 20 inches.

The inspiration for Morrows comes from the vertebral system. The design incorporates equilateral triangles, which are not only the most stable shape but also represent the skeleton that links with Morrows. The intention to plate the design in 14K gold adds a bone-like color and a touch of luxury. The use of matte white crystal or pearl creates a translucent effect, while also concealing the steel string that connects all the parts together.

The Morrows project began in October 2014 in Hong Kong and was completed in December 2014 in Guangzhou. It was exhibited in the Venetian Macau in January 2015, showcasing its unique design and craftsmanship.

One of the biggest challenges in creating Morrows was determining how to link all the parts together. The design ultimately utilizes a 0.4mm steel string, which required different plating techniques compared to the silver components. The ending parts of the big necklace, the pendants, and the earrings are set with zircon, adding delicate details and hiding the steel endings.

Morrows is a testament to the power of connections and the beauty of repetition. Inspired by the vertebral system, this jewelry set offers a fresh and innovative approach to connecting pearls. Its unique design, versatility, and attention to detail have earned Morrows the Silver A' Design Award in the Jewelry, Eyewear, and Watch Design category in 2015. This prestigious award recognizes the outstanding expertise, innovation, and artistic skill demonstrated by the design.
